The Phillies resume play after the All-Star Break on Friday evening against the Washington Nationals.  As they return to action, they will be without their All-Star, catcher J.T. Realmuto.  The Phillies have announced that Realmuto has been placed on the paternity list.

Realmuto announced the birth of his second child on his Instagram account earlier today:

The Phillies have added Rob Brantly to the major league roster to take Realmuto's place.  Brantly has 125 major league games under his belt already.  At the time of his call-up was batting .306 at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Phillies catching prospect Deivy Grullon is currently on the injured list with a broken toe, so he was not an option for the temporary roster spot.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Phillies moved pitcher Pat Neshek to the 60-day disabled list.

Realmuto may miss up to three days on the paternity list.  Thanks to the All-Star Break, he was in the right place at the right time.  Congratulations to J.T. and Lexi Realmuto!
