Phillies Post First Lineup Featuring Newly Acquired Luis Arraez

The Philadelphia Phillies posted their first lineup since adding second baseman Luis Arraez in a deal with the San Francisco Giants on Monday.

Luis Arraez Slots Into the Cleanup Spot

Arraez will bat cleanup and play second base in his first game with Philadelphia.

Arraez brings an impressive slash line of .324/.360/.440 with four home runs, 52 runs scored, and 10 steals for the Giants this season.

Defensive Shakeup Across the Infield and Outfield

While the lineup adds the National League's leading hitter, the defense has a complete makeover.  With Arraez entering the mix, Bryson Stott moves to third, Alec Bohm goes to first, and Bryce Harper returns to the outfield for the first time since elbow surgery.

Corresponding Roster Moves and Pitching Matchup

The team also made a series of roster moves today to make room for their three new acquisitions, Arraez, Right-handed pitcher Caleb Kilian, and left-handed pitcher Brooks Raley.

To make room for those three players, the Phillies made the following moves.

• Left-handed pitcher Kyle Backhus was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley

• Outfielder Gabriel Rincones Jr. was optioned to Lehigh Valley following last night’s game

• As previously announced, right-handed pitcher Seth Johnson was acquired by the Athletics yesterday

Jesus Luzardo will start for the Phillies tonight and will be opposed by Washington's Carson Palmquist, a lefty, who is an opener for the Nationals.
