As the sand was beginning to pour through the hourglass on the Philadelphia Phillies season on Wednesday, Alec Bohm stepped to the plate and delivered his most memorable moment in Philly.
Alec Bohm and Andrew Painter Keep Season Alive in Game 2
Bohm launched an opposite-field home run to give the Phillies a 4-3 lead, and rookie Andrew Painter toed the rubber in the bottom of the 10th to nail down the victory in Game 2 over Atlanta, setting up Thursday's Game 3.
Aaron Nola Takes the Ball in Pivotal Game 3
Now the Phillies will turn to another player trying to make their mark: Aaron Nola.
"All Hands on Deck": Wheeler and Luzardo Ready in Relief
While Nola, who will be making his 12th postseason start, will get the ball to start the game, manager Don Mattingly said after Game 2, “I’m assuming it’ll be pretty much all hands on deck,” type of day. Mattingly hinted that Zack Wheeler could be available and, according to reports, even Jesus Luzardo could be available to pitch out of the bullpen.
Nola's Recent Success Against the Braves
Nola faced the Braves twice in September, holding them to two runs on three hits with just two strikeouts and three walks in 6.1 innings on Sept. 12. During his start on Sept. 6, Nola allowed just one run on four hits across seven innings.
Braves Counter with Lefty Opener Ray Kerr
Per Salisbury, the Braves will counter with an opener, using lefty Ray Kerr. Grant Holmes, a right-hander, is likely to pitch a bulk of the innings after Kerr.
The winner of tonight's Game 3 will face the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Dodger Stadium in Game 1 of the National League Division Series.
