
Phillies’ Ranger Suárez Dominates in Rehab Start, Cristopher Sánchez Removed Early
Philadelphia Phillies lefty Ranger Suárez will make at least one more minor league rehab start before rejoining the rotation.
Ranger Suárez Sharp in Triple-A Start
The 29-year-old will likely make one more start, which is scheduled for Sunday with the IronPigs, and then should be ready to return to the big league club. He made two starts for Low-A Clearwater before Tuesday's start for Triple-A Lehigh, tossing seven innings, striking out 11 with a 1.29 ERA and 0.79 WHIP.
Suárez last pitched in the majors during the NL Division Series on Oct. 9 against the Mets. He missed time during the second half of last season with the same back issues that he experienced during Spring Training.
Taijuan Walker Holding Down Rotation in Suárez’s Absence
Without Suárez, the Phillies have been using Taijuan Walker in the starting rotation, and has allowed just five earned runs over 19 2/3 innings in four starts. Walker is set to make his next start on Friday in Chicago against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Christopher Sánchez Exits Early with Forearm Soreness
Phillies starting pitcher Christopher Sánchez had to leave Tuesday's game against the Mets after just two innings, throwing 58 pitches with left forearm soreness.
If Sánchez has to miss anytime, there is a chance Suárez replaces him with Walker remaining in the rotation
Sánchez's next start is scheduled for next Tuesday in Washington against the Nationals.
