Phillies top prospect Aidan Miller earns promotion to Double-A
One of the Philadelphia Phillies’ top prospects is now one step closer to the majors.
After an impressive 58-game stint at High-A Jersey Shore, 20-year-old shortstop Aidan Miller was promoted to Double-A Reading following his 5-for-5 night, including a double and home run on Sunday for the BlueClaws.
Miller, a first-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, slashed .259/.353/.444 with six home runs, 32 RBIs, 12 doubles, six triples, and a .797 OPS during his time at Jersey Shore this season. He started the year down in Clearwater, where he .275 with five home runs and 26 RBIs in 39 games before being promoted.
Miller was recently named the Phillies' top organizational prospect, passing former No. 1 overall prospect Andrew Painter. He has moved up to the No. 28 spot on the MLB Top 100 Prospect list, while Painter is now No. 33 overall. Painter is out the full 2024 season recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to be a part of the Phillies rotation in 2025.
The one question regarding Miller moving forward will be what position he will end up playing. Currently, he is playing shortstop, but some project him moving to third base at some point.
