Another day, another twist and turn in the Ben Simmons vs Sixers story.

Simmons, will not play in the teams game tonight against the Brooklyn Nets and according to ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski, Simmons met with the Sixers' medical professionals, coach Doc Rivers and his teammates, including Joel Embiid, on Friday morning and told them he is "not mentally ready to play to his expectations."

Also per Woj, Simmons will be evaluated and the next steps will be based upon the determination of medical professionals.

In a seperate tweet from Shams Charania of The Athletic tweeted that Simmons reported to the teams shootaround today and was "seen engaged around the team" and "accepted everyone needs to take responsibility, including himself."

This all occurred a day after Sixers team President Daryl Morey told Philadelphia Radio station 97.5 The Fanatic that the "standoff" between the organization and Ben Simmons "could take four years."

Morey continues to maintain that the team is not looking to move Simmons for role players, and wants a difference maker in return if a trade is made.

"Every day, we are going to expect Ben Simmons to be back here, or we trade him for a difference maker," Morey stated.
