You wanted a defensive minded head coach, the Eagles are trying to interview one.

According to a report by Ian Rapoport, the Eagles have requested permission from the Cincinnati Bengals to interview defensive coordinator Paul Guenther.

Due to the upcoming wildcard playoff game, Guenther cannot interview until after that game on Sunday.

Guenther, 44, is a Pennsylvania native that began his coaching career with Ursinus in 1997. He steadily has worked his way up through the NFL ranks with the Bengals organization since then serving an assistant for most of his career.

When former defensive coordinator  Mike Zimmer was hired as head coach of the Vikings, Guenther was promoted to that position.

Guenther will be entering his 14th season as an NFL coach in 2016. He will also interview with the Cleveland Browns after the game.
