According to multiple reports, Doug Collins will not return to the Sixers next season.

Collins has informed ownership that he plans to resign at the conclusion of the season.

Yahoo! Sports first reported the news.

The resignation comes just days after a Philadelphia Inquirer report surfaced citing sources 'privately hoped Collins wold not return next season.'

Collins has 1-year and $4.5 million remaining on his contract. If he were to be fired, that money would be owed in full to the Sixers coach.By resigning, a buyout can be negotiated and the two parties can go their separate ways.

The Sixers have just two games left in a disaster of season: Monday at Detroit and Wednesday at Indiana.
