Sixers Edge Celtics Again as ‘Michael from Ocean City’ Steals the Show
The Philadelphia Sixers have gotten off to a fun, solid start, with two wins over their longtime rival and nemesis, the Boston Celtics, including one on Tuesday where a local fan became a part of the broadcast.
Tyrese Maxey’s Historic Start Continues
After a miserable 2024-25 season that resulted in just 24 wins, the team has gotten off to a fun start with Tyrese Maxey getting off to a historic start to the season, recording his 11th consecutive game with at least 20 points and five assists, the second-longest streak to start a season in team history behind Allen Iverson’s 14-game run in the 2005-06 season.
The team added rookie V.J. Edgecombe with the third overall pick in the draft, and his style of play has added another element to a much deeper overall roster.
Kelly Oubre Jr.’s game-winning moment
On Tuesday night, the team was in a battle with Boston, with Kelly Oubre Jr. securing the game with a tip-in with 9 seconds remaining to give the 76ers a 102-100 lead, which would end up being the final score.
“Michael from Ocean City” Becomes Part of the Broadcast
Well, Sixers fans have been coming out to support the team, and one local fan came out on Tuesday night and became part of the NBC National broadcast.
The fan, Michael from Ocean City, appeared to yell at the ref that the foul was not a shooting foul, which sent Boston player Anfernee Simons to the free-throw line. Broadcaster Mike Tirico and Reggie Miller heard the fan and decided to make him a part of the broadcast.
"There is a fan behind me, who knows the rules," said Miller.
"You agree, what's your name? Tirico asked.
"Michael," the fan answered. What hometown, Mike?" asked Tirico.
"Ocean City," Michael said.
It was a fun exchange and seemed like a fun moment for the fan.
The viral moment caught on NBC
All three games between the Sixers and Celtics have been decided by a total of 4 points.
