With so many delicious local burger spots made throughout New Jersey, it seems nearly impossible to crown a winner.

We all love lists; they spark debate, and our friends Peter Genovese, Jeremy Schneider, and Christopher Burch over at NJ.com always put out fun lists. This one is for the 43 best burgers in New Jersey for 2025, which was revealed this week with nine Southern New Jersey spots on the list, including the No. 1 burger in the state.

Which South Jersey Burgers Made NJ’s Top 43 for 2025?

Fried Oysters on a Burger? Only in Manahawkin

Coming in at No. 35 is the OC burger, Old Causeway Steak and Oyster House in  Manahawkin.  The OC burger is a very unique burger, topped with fried oysters and more.

Upend your burger world with the OC Burger, a Black Angus burger topped with fried oysters, roasted mushrooms, horseradish spread and OC steak sauce.

Old Causeway Steak and Oyster House is located at 1201 E Bay Ave, Manahawkin.

Three Shore Towns, One Smash Hit: The Big Schmacc

At No. 32 on the list is the Big Schmacc Burger at Tony Beef in Galloway, Somers Point and Brigantine.

The Big Schmacc features two beef patties, American cheese, homemade sauce, lettuce, pickles and diced white onions

Check out their Galloway location at 195 S New York Road, 17 Bethel Rd, Somers Point, and their newest spot at 3101 Revere Boulevard, in Brigantine.

Cape May’s Classic Cheeseburger in a Historic Hotel

Next up is the Tavern cheeseburger at the Blue Pig Tavern, inside Congress Hall in Cape May, which features your choice of American, Swiss, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, on a Brioche Bun.

You’ll need an extra hand or two to handle The Tavern Cheeseburger, on a brioche bun.

The Blue Pig is inside Congress Hall at 200 Congress Pl in Cape May.

Atlantic City’s Viking Burger with a Local School Spirit Twist

Coming on at No. 25 on the list is the Vagabond Viking burger at Vagabond Kitchen and Tap House in the Chelsea Heights section of Atlantic City.  A fun fact is that at the Egg Harbor Township location, it's called the Eagle burger (the mascot of EHT High School)

The Vagabond Viking burger is a hefty handful; dig the Vagabond name imprinted on the bun.

Vagabond Kitchen and Tap House is located at 672 N Trenton Ave in Atlantic City or at 3016 Ocean Heights Ave in Egg Harbor Twp.

A Century of Flavor in Millville’s Most Famous Burger

An oldie but a goodie comes in at No. 22 on the list, Jim’s Lunch in Millville.

Jim’s Lunch is Millville’s heart and soul. It was founded in 1923 — 100 years ago. The burgers are legendary, and you must have them with the house “secret sauce.’’

Jim’s Lunch is located on the corner of High and Main Street at 105 E Main St. in Millville.

Vineland’s BBQ-Infused Burger Is a Local Legend

Inside the Top 20, located in Vineland, is the Smokehouse burger at Outlaw’s Burger Bar & Creamery. The burger is loaded with crisp bacon, house-pickled jalapeno, white Cheddar, crispy onion rings, and house-made BBQ.

The “most wanted” burger is the smokehouse, topped with onion rings, bacon and house-made barbecue sauce.

Grab this burger at 1370 South Main Road in Vineland.

Oaklyn’s Cheese-Lover’s Dream Burger Ranks #13

Out in Oaklyn, which is in Camden County, is the Double Pete burger at Mulligan’s Bar & Grill at No. 13 of the list.

The combination of meat, bacon, fried onions, Swiss, cheddar, American cheese, pork roll and long hots. If that doesn’t get your juices flowing — or your heart to stop — nothing will.

Mulligan’s is located at 1208 Black Horse Pike.

Merchantville’s Bold Blend of Brisket, Chuck, and Flavor

As we get to the Top 10, we get to the Blue Monkey Burger at Blue Monkey Tavern at 2 S Center St, Merchantville, Camden County.

The blue monkey burger is one of those burgers that need no ketchup or other condiment to be appreciated.

The Blue Money Burger is a house blend of short rib, brisket, and chuck topped with a portabella mushroom, caramelized onions & blue cheese.

Sewell’s Burger Barr Claims the #1 Spot Statewide

Finally, the No. 1 burger in the entire state of New Jersey is in Sewell, The Blend, at the Burger Barr, 508 Hurffville Crosskeys Road.

The blend, a combination of ground chuck and brisket, could not have been tastier, juicier (I had it cooked medium rare, as usual) or fresher. Choose from nine cheeses, including Vermont aged cheddar, gorgonzola, Jarlsberg and smoked gouda. The cooper sharp on my burger lent it a marvelously melty, tangy twist.
