There are so many great breweries in South Jersey, and if you listen to The Sports Bash, you know I am a big fan of many of the local spots.

I can give you my rankings of my favorite, which I will in a bit, but one publication, My Bartender, listed the Top 30 breweries in New Jersey with plenty of local representation.

South Jersey Breweries Land Spots on NJ’s Top 30 List

First up, coming in at No. 28 on the list is Hidden Sands Brewing Company in Egg Harbor Township.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Hidden Sands Brewing Company offers a variety of beers that cater to different tastes, all served in a friendly and relaxed setting.

My Take: I have been here plenty of times with my favorite being the 107′ IPA. It's a really cool setting with an upstairs and downstairs area, and even an upper mezzanine area.

Address: 6754 Washington Ave, EHT Next up at No. 26 on the list is down in North Cape May, Gusto Brewing Company.

Gusto Brewing Company, located in North Cape May, New Jersey, is known for its commitment to freshness and innovation. The brewery offers a rotating selection of small-batch beers, ensuring that each visit brings something new for beer enthusiasts to enjoy.

My Take: I am a big fan of Gusto with a recent collaboration with The Seed, called Anemochory, and it was excellent. The brewery is in a strip mall, but don't let that deter you; it's a welcoming spot with plenty of seating.

Address: 3860 Bayshore Rd

Pinelands Brewing Company in Little Egg Harbor came in at No. 25 on the list, and while I have been to the brewery, I have had some of their beers.

Pinelands Brewing offers a rotating lineup of beers, including seasonal options, making it a great spot for those who appreciate well-made, local craft beer. Whether you’re visiting or a local, it’s a place to enjoy quality brews in a welcoming setting.

My take: Again, I haven't been to Pinelands, but have had their Swamp Donkey IPA and would recommend it to you if you are a fan of an American IPA with floral and fruity hop notes and a dry finish.

Address: 140 7th Ave, Ste 15, Tuckerton Bonesaw Brewing Co., located in Glassboro, checked in at No. 22 on the list.  They also have a location at the Deptford Mall.

The spacious taproom is designed to welcome both casual visitors and serious craft beer fans, offering a comfortable place to relax and enjoy fresh brews. With friendly staff and a community-focused vibe, Bonesaw Brewing Co. is a must-visit for anyone interested in New Jersey’s craft beer scene.

My Take: I have been to both the Glassboro and Deptford Mall locations, both are great spots. When I have been there, I generally order their Swoosh IPA.

Address: 570 Mullica Hill Rd, Glassboro and 1750 Deptford Center Rd Suite 1500, Deptford.

Spellbound Brewing, based in Mount Holly, is next up, coming in at No. 19 on the list.

Spellbound Brewing constantly updates its selection, providing visitors with new and exciting beers to try. The spacious taproom and friendly staff create a welcoming environment for both locals and visitors. For anyone interested in craft beer in New Jersey, Spellbound Brewing stands out for its quality, variety, and community feel.

My Take: I have not been to their tasting room, I have had a few of their beers, and I am going to recommend a lighter IPA called Enlightened IPA, a low-calorie and low-carb IPA, featuring citrus and tropical hop notes with just 90 calories and 2 grams of carbs.

Address: 10 Lippincott Ln #12, Mt Holly  Coming in at No. 16 on the list is Glasstown Brewing Company, located in Millville.

The brewery’s taproom provides a welcoming atmosphere for visitors to enjoy their craft beers. Glasstown Brewing Company also offers a variety of seasonal and specialty beers, ensuring there’s always something new to try. Whether you’re a local resident or just passing through, Glasstown Brewing Company offers a unique and enjoyable craft beer experience.

My Take: I have not been to Glasstown, but have had a few of their beers, including the 609 and the 856 IPAs; you can't go wrong with either.

Address: 10 Peterson Street, Millville

Double Nickel Brewing Company, located in Pennsauken, is up next at No. 13 on the list.

Whether you are a local or just passing through, Double Nickel Brewing Company offers a solid lineup of beers and a welcoming environment that showcases the best of New Jersey’s growing craft beer culture.

Address: 1585 RT-73, Pennsauken At No. 12 is Slack Tide Brewing Company in Cape May Court House.

Slack Tide Brewing focuses on making beers that locals and visitors can enjoy year-round, while maintaining a strong connection with the community through events and local partnerships.

My Take: I am a big fan of Slacktide, and they did a really good job with their new location. If I am there, they have plenty of great options, but one I am going to recommend here is the Catch and Release 005 and the Three Seas IPA.

Address: 1879 US-9, CAPE MAY CH

Moving into the Top 10, we head to Tonewood Brewing with locations in Oaklyn and Barrington

Tonewood Brewing also hosts live music and food trucks, making it a great place to relax and connect with the community while tasting some of New Jersey’s finest brews

My Take: Right now, their Fuego is one of my favorite IPAs in the area. I have never been to the Oakln location, but Barringotn is a massive place with plenty of room to roam.

Address: 215 W Clinton Ave, Oaklyn Next up, coming in at No. 6 on the list is The Seed: A Living Beer Project in Atlantic City, which is one of my favorite spots in the area.

Established in 2020, it has rapidly gained recognition for its innovative approach to brewing, focusing on saisons, mixed-culture ales, and lagers crafted with locally sourced ingredients.

My Take: There are so many options here, and ya simply can't go wrong, but some of my favorites here are A Place to Rest, Eager to Rest, Even the Trees, Communion of Subjects, and Earnest Intent.

Address: 807 Baltic Ave Unit 4, Atlantic City

The highest ranked brewery in the area, coming at No. 2 on the list, is Cape May Brewing Company.

Situated at the Cape May Airport, the brewery began with a modest 12-gallon brew system and has since expanded to become one of the largest and most acclaimed craft breweries in the region.

My Take: Cape May has plenty of good opinions, and you can find the Cape May IPA pretty much anywhere you go in the area, but I would recommend Snag and Drop.

Kane Brewing is renowned for its commitment to quality and innovation, producing a diverse range of beers that cater to various palates.

My Take: I have never been to Kane Brewing, but am familiar with plenty of their beers, including the Head High, which is well known, but I am a big fan of Party Wave, and one other one to try is Hop Lab.
