The Scarlet Knights feature multiple Cape-Atlantic League alumni, including Isaih Pacheco, Tyreem Powell and Nihym Anderson of Vineland. Brothers Max and Bo Melton and Owen Bowles from Cedar Creek, along with Mohamed Toure of Pleasantville.
BUENA VISTA — Vineland came into Friday night's game at LaRosa Field looking to prove it was up to the challenge of taking down undefeated St. Augustine Prep. It was, but the Hermits proved they are one of South Jersey's best teams by taking the Fighting Clan's best punch, and delivering a few of their own.
Despite Vineland suffering its first loss of the season over the weekend, the Fight Clan's freshman signal caller, Isaih Pacheco easily took home last week's 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the Week award.
The points were plentiful on Friday night across the high school football spectrum in South Jersey.
Five local teams scored 42 or more points in their victories, including Cedar Creek's 54-14 win on the road against Holy Spirit.
