It has reached a new level for the Flyers. This is essentially one great, big reality show. The play on the ice is only one part of the equation, and at this point, the things happening off the ice are becoming bigger headlines, most recently comments from Flyers legend Bobby Clarke on the Cam and Strick Podcast regarding Ron Hextall's time as GM.
Flyers forward Sean Couturier was named the winner of the Frank J. Selke Memorial Trophy, presented annually to “the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game," for the 2019-20 season on Thursday.
Over the course of the season suspension, the NHL put together lists of the top plays for each team. There are still several games Flyers fans can look back on with great fondness this season, especially as the team started to make a push for the playoffs and challenged for a division title. Sean Couturier came out ahead in the midseason voting for the Selke Trophy, beating out O’Reilly, who came in third, and Patrice Bergeron, the four-time Selke winner, who finished second. That prompted the thought: could this finally be Couturier’s year to receive some much-deserved hardware?
