Sports Talk with Brodes: Should You Be Worried About Carter Hart?
Carter Hart left the Philadelphia Flyers' scrimmage on Tuesday afternoon and he did not return. Due to the NHL's Return to Play Policy, the team is not allowed to inform the public on what exactly happened. Colby Cohen. co-host of Flyers' pregame and post-game shows, tweeted out that it was just back spasms. While I don't think this is a SERIOUS issue that should hold him out a significant amount of time, I think it is fair to ask this question: Can these back spasms cause Hart discomfort once meaningful games are in action? Goaltenders move around so quickly in the blue paint and they constantly push off side-to-side to the point where it's possible to tweak the back again. I am worried that this injury can linger and come back when games are meaningful. Brian Elliott is a veteran backup that I can rely on, but this playoff run is all about Hart getting experience. Even if this isn't a traditional playoff atmosphere. It would kill the entertainment of these games if he isn't the netminder in-between the pipes.
