Chuck Fletcher's already underwhelming trade deadline week turned into a disastrous deadline day. The Flyers traded Zack MacEwen and Patrick Brown, but had a deal with James van Riemsdyk fall through while acquiring Brendan Lemieux and two late-round draft picks.
The Flyers finally got the result to go with the process. Kevin Hayes scored two goals and Carter Hart made 23 saves in helping the Flyers snap their losing streak at 10 games with a 3-1 win over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Center.
Cole Caufield scored with 1.9 seconds remaining in regulation, forcing overtime and eventually a shootout, where Nick Suzuki scored the lone goal to hand the Flyers their sixth straight loss, 5-4, on Saturday night.
