This Eagles Pass Rusher Undergoing Surgery On Thursday
After allowing 24 Points Per Game over the first four weeks of the season, the Philadelphia Eagles Defense recalibrated during the Bye Week and allowed just 11 PPGA during their six-game winning streak.
In spite of their uneven start to the season, the Eagles' Defense has allowed the fewest Total Yards in the NFL during the 2024 season and they are Top Ten in Team Sacks. One could argue the defense would be better if one of their offseason additions had contributed more.
When Bryce Huff signed his three-year, $51 Million contract with the Eagles back in March 2024, the hope was that he would be a younger version of Veteran Pass Rusher Haason Reddick.
But the 26-year-old Pass Rusher has been a disappointment compiling only 2.5 Sacks in 10 games played this season. Huff has attempted to play through an Injury the last couple of weeks but will now undergo surgery to address the issue.
Bryce Huff Will Undergo Surgery On Thursday
Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni confirmed at his Wednesday Press Conference that Bryce Huff will be having surgery to repair his Wrist Injury. The Pass Rusher has only played a total of 32 snaps in the last three games and had his hand in a cast in recent weeks.
Eagles Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio admitted to the media earlier this month that Huff's injury necessitated a cast that "leaves his thumb totally immobilized". Huff initially sustained the injury back in NFL Week 9 when the Eagles played the Jacksonville Jaguars.
According to Orthopedic Doctors, the recovery time for Wrist Surgery is 4 to 12 weeks depending on the severity of the injury. The Eagles are hoping for Huff to return to the field before the end of the regular season, potentially NFL Week 17.
With Huff undergoing surgery, Eagles fans can expect to see more playing time for Edge Rusher Nolan Smith and Rookie Jalyx Hunt. The Eagles' Edge Rusher who has played the most snaps in 2024 is Brandon Graham, who is on the list of the Top Ten Sacks in Eagles Franchise History:
