Two South Jersey Spots Named Among the Best in the Nation in Beer Categories

Two South Jersey establishments gained national recognition, being named among the best in the nation in beer categories by USA Today.

According to USAToday 10Best, The Biergarten, located at 2701 Boardwalk in Atlantic City, ranked No. 8 in the Best Beer Garden category for 2025 in the United States.

The Biergarten is one of the few bars located right on the boardwalk and offers over 30 beers on draft, authentic German and European beers from the world's oldest and most respected breweries, a variety of bottled and canned biers, and a delicious German based food menu.

“Biergarten Atlantic City is right on New Jersey’s historic boardwalk and is the city’s first authentic beer garden. It features over 30 draft beers, as well as bottled and canned options, many from some of the world’s oldest breweries in Europe. The open-air venue, which is dog friendly, features live entertainment and a menu of German-inspired dishes."

The Biergarten is a perfect place to check out on a warm day or even if there is a little chill in the air.  The bar has heaters that allow you to remain outside with fresh air while having a cold beer on the boardwalk.  They have all sorts of games like cornhole, jenga and more.

The other local establishment that gained some recognition in the' top new breweries' category was down in Wildwood, Angelsea Aleworks at 3401 New Jersey Ave.

“This homegrown brewery has some unique creations on its extensive craft menu. Their Beach Ball farm-style ale uses locally sourced beach plums and peaches, while Wah Wah Butterscotch is a strong amber ale that features a blend of oats, lactose, Belgian dark candy and butterscotch. Anglesea Aleworks also offers a seasonal Señor Seapig, a mezcal barrel-aged ale. The tasting room doesn't serve food, but patrons are welcome to bring their own bites.”

To qualify, you had to top in the past three years, and Angelsea Aleworks came in at No. 9, opening in 2023 beneath the bowling alley between Oak and Schellenger Avenues in the heart of Wildwood.

Nominees were submitted by a panel of experts for USAToday’s list of best beer bars. Editors with 10Best then narrowed the field to select the final set of nominees for the Readers’ Choice Awards.
