The Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers don't like each other.

Whenever the two bitter rivals face off, fans can always expect a physical, eventful game.

Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds is one of the more hated players in the NHL and it was on display Saturday afternoon in the first period.

Simmonds was ejected and received a match penalty in the first period for an altercation between he and Ranger captain Sean McDonagh

As Simmonds closes in for a check, McDonagh braces himself for a collision and gets his stick up high against the Flyers forward. Simmonds clearly didnt appreciate this and that's when he responded by slashing him in the leg and punching him in the face.

Simmonds was ejected and a match penalty was given which means he will be automatically suspended for the Flyers next contest unless the NHL steps in.

Simmonds, clearly upset, threw his stick across the ice before heading off into the locker room.

The Flyers eventually lost the game to Rangers in a shootout.
