A third player with local ties is hoping to continue their football career in the NFL.

2014 Millville high school alum, Ed Shockley, a Villanova stand-out, has signed with the Dallas Cowboys as a undrafted rookie free agent.

A team captain for the Willanova Wildcats, Shockley is a tackling machine, racking up 101 in just 11 games, during his senior campaign. Shockley’s career at Villanova was highlighted by 246 total tackles.

With the Cowboys, Shockley joins a defense that is clearly looking to add depth to the position, drafting Boise State linebacker Leighton Vander Esch in the first-round on Thursday night and adding Indiana OLB Chris Covington later in the draft.

Shockley become the third linebacker the team brought in on draft weekend, showing that it was a major area of concern.
