Extra Points: Dave Weinberg’s Chargers-Eagles 2-minute drill
Eagles' best number: 7 (sacks by Eagles defense)
Eagles' worst number: 5 (Jalen Hurts turnovers)
View from my living room:
Our four grandsons came over Saturday to assist with putting up our Christmas decorations. The older three (Hampton, Graham, Nixon) put up the Christmas tree while 16-month-old Whitt tested the durability of the various knick-knacks set up around the house.
Three stars
- Chargers safety Tony Jefferson (game-ending interception).
- Eagles linebacker Jalyx Hunt (2.5 sacks).
- Chargers place-kicker Cameron Dicker (5-for-5 field goals, including a 54-yarder).
Eagles’ best play
Running back Saquon Barkley, who rushed for 122 yards on 20 carries, scored the Eagles’ only touchdown when he burst through a hole on the left side and raced up the sideline for a 52-yard TD in the fourth quarter.
Eagles’ worst play
Hurts accomplished the rare feat of committing two turnovers on one play in the second quarter. He threw an interception to Chargers defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand, who promptly fumbled. Hurts recovered the fumble, then coughed up the football when hit by defensive tackle Jamaree Caldwell. Linebacker Troy Dye recovered it to give possession back to the Chargers.
Turning point
The Eagles trailed 22-19 in overtime and drove to the Chargers 17-yard line behind a 28-yard completion from Hurts to DeVonta Smith on third-and-16 and an offsides penalty on the Chargers on fourth-and-4. The rally ended with 2:35 left in overtime when Hurts’ pass toward wide receiver Jahan Dotson was tipped by Chargers cornerback Cam Hart and intercepted by Jefferson at the 1-yard line
