The Flyers signed Schultz on a one-year deal July 2 thinking he'd probably be the seventh defenseman. They made a bigger commitment to the 32-year-old blueliner Wednesday, signing him to a multi-year extension.

According to a report from Rogers Sportsnet, the deal is for two years and worth $4.5 million.
