The Philadelphia Wings returned home to Wells Fargo Center to host the New York Riptide’s, after an overtime win in Halifax. Ahead of the game the team finalized their roster, taking Blaze Riorden and Holden Cattoni off the Injured Reserve List, moving Sam LeClair to the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) List, and Marcus Minichiello was added to the Injured Reserve List. With these roster moves, Kevin Lynch was able to make his NLL debut.

The Wings kept the momentum going from their previous win with a faceoff win to start the game, but quickly lost momentum with a turnover to the Riptide. At 12:05 in the first quarter the Riptide’s started the scoring with a goal from Sundown (#68) and continued to add to their lead 2 minutes later with an over the shoulder goal from Teat (#51), and continue to tack it on two minutes after that with a goal from the top of the crease from Keaman (#92). The Wings didn’t put themselves on the board until there were only 4 minutes left remaining in the quarter with a high slot shot from Riorden (#19), and added on with two more goals that period from #24 Mitch Jones (2:04) and #5 Taggart Clark to end the quarter within one.

The Wings were able to regain their confidence during the beginning of the second quarter with a goal from Jones to tie the game (12:47). The Riptide continued to tally their total with a shot from behind the net from Keaman less than a minute later, followed by a powerplay goal and a shot from the top of the slot within the next 2 minutes to put them up 7-4. Both teams were able to score within the final minutes of the quarter with a goal from Madronic for the Riptide (1:30) and Riorden for the Wings (0:45.9).

After the half the Riptide once again struck first in the 3rd quarter at the 14 minutes mark with a goal from the right alley to start and continue on at the 9 minute mark with another goal from Teat. With the clock just under the 9 minute mark the Wings pulled their goalie and added an extra shooter on a delayed penalty call, and were able to capitalize off this opportunity with another goal from Jones. Less than a minute later Clark tagged on his second goal to put the team within five. The Riptides were able to net three more goals and the Wings one more. In the final quarter the Wings were only able to produce one goal from a blocked shot that was recovered by #15 Joe Resetarits. In the final minute of play in the quarter the Riptide were given a penalty for illegal substitution leading to a penalty shot to be taken by Taggart Clark, which was blocked. The Riptide tacked on three more before the end of the quarter with the final score being 16-9 and the Wings being outshot 52-41.

The Wings will take on the Saskatchewan Rush January 13th at 7:00 PM at the Wells Fargo Center.
