Are The Eagles Equipped For The Tough Games On Their Schedule?
The Philadelphia Eagles have the 14th-ranked defense in the NFL in Total Yards Allowed this season. The addition of All-Pro Safety Kevin Byard should improve a defense that will have to face off with some of the top offenses in the NFL over the coming weeks.
The Eagles' Defense has allowed 20 points or fewer in five of their seven games this season and has the most Quarterback Pressures in the NFL this season (83). Despite the plethora of injuries on defense (Avonte Maddox, Justin Evans, Nakobe Dean just to name a few) the Philadelphia Defense has performed well under new Defensive Coordinator Sean Desai.
Byard is joining a secondary that already has five-time Pro Bowl Cornerback Darius "Big Play" Slay and 2022 Second-Team All-Pro Selection James Bradberry. The Eagles' starting Corners are the only two players in the NFL with at least 100 Passes Defensed since 2016: Slay has 139 and Bradberry has 103. Speaking of Slay, he was rated as the number one Cornerback in the NFL for Week 7 by Pro Football Focus.
The Eagles' starting secondary of Slay, Bradberry, Byard, and Blankenship will have some tough opposition in the coming weeks. Here is a bird's eye view on the upcoming schedule of high-powered offenses:
*November 5th: Dallas Cowboys have the 5th best scoring offense in the NFL (25.7 Points Per Game)
*November 20th: Kansas City Chiefs have the 6th best scoring offense in the league (25.4 PPG)
*November 26th: Buffalo Bills have the 3rd highest-scoring offense in the NFL (28.3 PPG)
*December 3rd: San Francisco 49ers have the 2nd highest-scoring offense in the league (28.7 PPG)
*December 10th: Dallas Cowboys have the 5th best scoring offense in the NFL (25.7 Points Per Game)
*December 17th: Seattle Seahawks have the 11th highest-scoring offense in the NFL (24 PPG)
Thanks to Howie Roseman being proactive, the Eagles are now more prepared to face this tough stretch of games coming up after this Sunday's matchup against the Commanders in Washington. Byard will get one game to get up to speed in preparation for the toughest stretch of the Eagles' season.
