Sports Talk with Brodes: Flyers Win Game 4, Carter Hart Records Back-To-Back Shutouts!
The Philadelphia Flyers win game four of the series against the Montreal Canadiens by a score of 2-0. Michael Raffl sniped Carey Price in the first period and Phil Myers threw a shot on net from a weird angle to score the second goal. The Flyers continue to struggle on the power play. Carter Hart records a shutout, making it two in a row!
Sports Talk with Brodes: Flyers Take 2-1 Series Lead, Hart Records Shutout
The Philadelphia Flyers win game three by a score of 1-0. Carter Hart records a shutout saving 23 shots. The Flyers team as a whole blocked 24 shots. The team definitely played better than game two, but there are plenty of negatives.
The power-play went 0-6 and are 1-25 total since returning to the bubble. This is abysmal! Their last three power-plays resulted in ZERO SHOTS! That's almost impossible. Two of those opportunities were in the third period when the score was 1-0. How?! How?! How?! How?!
Alain Vigneault put Robert Hagg in the lineup along with Michael Raffl. Shayne Gostisbehere and Joel Farabee were healthy scratches. Vigneault wanted to play a more physical game, which they executed.
For the only goal, Claude Giroux ripped a shot and it hit off Jakub Voracek in front of the net. It found a way past Carey Price who was hard to crack all night, although it wasn't as if the Flyers had too many opportunities.
Sports Talk with Brodes: Phillies Sweep the Mets!
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets 6-2 to sweep the three-game series. Zack Wheeler threw seven innings and was touching 99mph.
Rhys Hoskins started the scoring off by knocking in Jean Segura at third base in the first inning. Alec Bohm drove in JT Realmuto and Andrew McCutchen crushed a first-pitch two-run homer off Rick Porcello in the sixth inning to take the lead.
Scott Kingery recorded two hits which is huge considering his slump is extremely noticeable. Roman Quinn went on the IL list before the game. Jean Segura left the game after running hard to first base and Jay Bruce left with a quad injury.
Sports Talk with Brodes: Aaron Nola & Rhys Hoskins Deliver in 6-2 Win Over Mets
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets by a score of 6-2. Aaron Nola was awesome, throwing seven innings and striking out eight. It wasn't his best, but the fact that he could be this successful when not having his "A game" is impressive. Jean Segura hit a solo home-run to get the scoring started and in the fifth inning, Rhys Hoskins hit a bases-clearing double to blow the game open
Sports Talk with Brodes: Phillies Swept by Orioles & Bohm Makes Debut
The Philadelphia Phillies were swept by the Baltimore Orioles. The bullpen's ERA is now 10.13 allowing 48 earned-runs in 42 2/3 innings.
Bryce Harper and JT Realmtuo seem to be the only inspired everyday players on this team. That's no knock on guys like Didi Gregorius and Jay Bruce, but you can see the difference in the eyes of the number three and four hitters in the lineup. Realmuto hit two home runs in this game and produced all four runs while Harper was on base.
Alec Bohm made his MLB Debut and rocked a double to start his career. There was a questionable defensive play by Bohm in the fifth that could have changed Jake Arrieta's night. This team stinks.

Sports Talk with Brodes: Eflin 10 Strikeouts, Hoskins Hit Into 3 Double Plays in 5-4 Loss
The Philadelphia Phillies lose to the Baltimore Orioles 5-4. Zach Eflin threw six innings, allowed seven hits, four earned-runs, and struck-out a career-high 10 batters. For your fourth/fifth starter, I think he was fine. He needs to clean up his secondary pitches. His curveball and sliders were rocked while his sinker was on display.
Andrew Knapp was the reason they scored runs with 3-4 night and two RBIs. Phil Gosselin started for Scott Kingery. Rhys Hoskins is still in the lineup after his awful start to the season. He didn't help his case by hitting into three 5-4-3 double plays.
Sports Talk with Brodes: Flyers Take a 1-0 Series Lead!
The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Montreal Canadiens by a score of 2-1 to take a 1-0 series lead. It was not their best game at all, but Carter Hart was magnificent. The only goal he allowed was on the powerplay when Shea Weber found an open-net after the puck bounced to him in the slot.
Ivan Provorov scored to open up the game in the first period by putting the puck on net from the blue line with a man-advantage. Joel Farabee scored the game winning goal seconds after Montreal tied it up in the second period.
The Flyers played sloppy at times, specifically in the second period, and they will have to clean things up! With that being said, they left a ton of scoring chances on the table. Scott Laughton had a wide-open net and was robbed by Carey Price. Nate Thompson shot the puck in the corner when Price was nowhere to be found. The Fly Guys had multiple powerplays in the third period and came up empty. I thought they gave the Habs too many chances. Luckily, Carter Hart delivered!

Sports Talk with Brodes: Sixers Bench Competes, But Fall to the Suns
The Philadelphia Sixers played the Phoenix Suns without any starters except Shake Milton. It was fun to watch the guys compete, but this game essentially meant nothing. Mike Scott scored 17 points in 22 minutes, Raul Neto scored 22 points, and Alec Burks shot the ball well. Matisse Thybulle made sure Devin Booker earned his points, but foul trouble was a concern. The refs didn't help what-so-ever.
