Vic Fangio on Carter’s Leadership and Accountability
The Eagles could impose their own discipline on Carter, but when asked on Tuesday defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said he would leave that up to head coach Nick Sirianni, but didn’t mince words when asked if Carter has stepped into a leadership role.
“Actions speak louder than words” comment
"Well, to be considered a leader, actions speak louder than words and he's got to lead through his actions," Fangio stated.
How the Eagles Adjusted Without Carter
Without Carter last week, Fangio acknowledged his defense had challenges adjusting without their starting defender.
"I think the first thing that happens is now you're down to four D-Linemen and everybody's rep count has to go up, so to me, that's the biggest adjustment," Fangio explained. You lose the player, which is no good on multiple fronts, but it's a rep thing, too."
Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, and Byron Young step up
As far as reps, without Carter, Jordan Davis and Mooro Ojomo played a majority of the snaps with Byron Young also seeing an uptick.
"Jordan [Davis] had a bunch of reps, probably more than he's ever had in a game," said Fangio. Same thing with Ojomo. Byron Young had to play more than he thought we thought he would, so I thought they did fine. I mean, obviously it could be better.
Carter Returns for Eagles vs. Chiefs
This week the Eagles will have Carter back when they face the three-time defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs in a Super Bowl rematch.
