When Cedar Creek football standout Damon “Duwop” Mitchell committed to Georgia Tech in July, many viewed it as a sensible move for the talented senior. Yellow Jackets head coach Paul Johnson annually orchestrates one of the nation’s premier triple-option offensive attacks, a system that seems to suit the multi-dimensional Mitchell quite well.

However, things have swiftly changed five weeks into the 2012 football season and the versatile playmaker may have decided to push the reboot button in his recruiting process. Mitchell will travel to Madison this weekend for an official visit with the University of Wisconsin football program, according to Cedar Creek head coach Tim Watson.

The Badgers initially offered Mitchell a scholarship months ago, but with an important caveat. Wisconsin was interested in the 6-foot-3, 205-pound athlete exclusively at the safety position.

However, the reigning Big Ten Conference champions have changed course. According to Coach Watson, the Badgers have extended Mitchell the opportunity to join the program as a passer.

This development apparently fueled his decision to take an official visit to the Wisconsin campus.
