According to Brian Startare of 97.5 Radio in Philadelphia and confirmed by Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com, Charlie Manuel will return to the Phillies as a senior advisor to the general manager.

Manuel will be serving as some-what of a figure head for the organization where he won the 2008 World Series and compiled a managerial record of 780-636 (.551) in nine seasons with the Phillies.

The Phillies fired Manuel back in August and named Ryne Sandberg the interim manage, he was later named full-time manager.

From 2007-11, the Phils won five straight division titles under Manuel, and in 2008 they captured a World Series title, beating the Tampa Bays Rays. The Phillies returned to the Fall Classic in 2009, though they were denied a repeat championship by the Yankees.
