On Monday the Eagles announced Jay Ajayi has been placed on Injured Reserve and concurring reports are that the 25-year old Running Back tore his ACL.  Ajayi will be a Free Agent after the 2018 season and the expectation was that he wanted to play well this season to setup his next contract.  In the team's first five game, Ajayi leads the Eagles in Rushing Yards (184), Rushing Touchdowns (3), and Rushing Attempts (45).  Despite the void created by the loss of Jay Ajayi for the rest of the season, ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen reported on Monday night that the Eagles have no plans to pursue a trade for embattled Steelers Running Back Le'Veon Bell.

ESPN.com NFL Insider KC Joyner joined Mike Gill on Monday discussing if Ajayi was playing on a torn ACL in Sunday's loss to the Vikings and if he was injured on the Red Zone fumble:

"When he was near the goal line and where he did try to do a cut back, it was an awkward cutback and I even looked at (Ajayi) I wonder if he might have hurt himself there - A couple times there it looked like, just watching him, I don’t know that this guy wants contact, it’s like he’s trying to avoid contact....We all know he’s tough, he’s proven that but if you are hurt or you think you are close to getting hurt you try to avoid contact so I don’t wanna say it’s not surprising but....It might not have been on that play, it might have just been he couldn’t make the cut back he wanted to make because he was already hurt."
