Eagles Cut Ties with former first-round pick Derek Barnett
The Philadelphia Eagles have cut ties with their former first-round pick.
Derek Barnett, who the team selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2017 draft, has been waived by the team on Friday.
In eight games this season, Barnett has just three tackles.
Overall, Barnett has been a bit of a disappointment. The all-time sack leader at the University of Tennesee, never really made an impact as a pass rusher in Philadelphia.
He has had injury issues, missing all but one game in 2022 due to a torn ACL, suffered in the opening week against the Detroit Lions.
His biggest moment as an Eagle came in the Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots where he recovered the Tom Brady fumble on Brandon Graham's stripe-sack.
He leaves Philadelphia with 21.5 sacks in 71 games.
