According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Philadelphia Eagles have elevated practice squad running back Dameon Pierce to the active roster before their Sunday game in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Injury Wave Forces Roster Shakeup in Philadelphia

Pierce adds depth to the team with starting running back Saquon Barkley and backup Tank Bigsby both injured.

"I have been really pleased to have him (Pierce) and so excited that we were able to keep him," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said on Wednesday.

Will Shipley & Dameon Pierce to Lead Backfield in London

Will Shipley could slide into the top running back slot, with Pierce expected to be next up and another running back from the practice squad, likely Carson Steele or Jaydon Blue, elevated as well.

Who is Dameon Pierce? A Look at His NFL Career

Pierce was an offseason pickup who played sparingly with Houston last season. The former fourth-round pick rushed for 939 yards and four scores as a rookie with the Houston Texans in 2022.

In 2025, he appeared in four games for the Texans and one in Kansas City, with 14 carries for 36 yards and a touchdown.

He and Steele were cut from the running back room as Philadelphia reduced its roster to 53 players before Week 1 of this season and added them to the Eagles' practice squad.

Both Barkley and Bigsby are expected to miss time, with Bigsby on injured reserve after core muscle surgery.  Barkley hurt his hamstring in the second quarter and is considered “week-to-week.”

Rebuilding Philly’s Rushing Attack

"I know he'll do everything he can do to get himself back, and obviously, he's a great player and a great teammate," Sirianni said on Monday. We always need him on the field."

Without Barkley and Bigsby, the Eagles will turn to Shipley and Pierce to try and find a way to get their running game going, which currently averages just 109 yards per game.
