As the Philadelphia Phillies enter the second week of the season, a story is already emerging - Edmundo Sosa.

Sosa has given the team an early-season spark, first starting in place of Trea Turner, who was dealing with back spasms, and then starting at second in place of Bryson Stott.

In both instances, Sosa answered the call. In four games this season, Sosa is 9-15 with four doubles and five RBI.

"I'm going to call MLB and see if we can play 10," manager Rob Thomson joked after the game.

On Wednesday night against Colorado with the Phillies leading 3-1, Sosa stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and lived again, ripping a 2-0 sinker, driving in two more insurance runs for the Phillies. Overall, in the game, Sosa went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI on Wednesday.

Sosa always seems to add energy to the lineup, routinely coming up with big hits in big spots.  He adds a different type of hitter to the bottom of the Phillies' lineup and also adds another decision for manager Rob Thomson to make with the lineup.

The way Sosa is hitting right now, how does Thomson keep Sosa's hot bat in the lineup?

One option is to platoon him with Stott and have him play second base against left-handed pitching.  The issue with that? The team doesn't face another left-hander until they run into Cy Young winner Chris Sale and the Atlanta Braves on April 8.

Sosa can play short and this base and make some spot starts around the diamond, or the team can try him in center field, something they didn't do a lot of in spring training.

"He plays hard, he's really good in the field, and he is swinging it right row," added Zack Wheeler.
