
Phillies Place LHP Tanner Banks on Injured List; Recall RHP Chase Shugart
Prior to tonight's 1-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds, Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski announced the Phillies placed left-handed pitcher Tanner Banks on the 15-day injured list with a left forearm strain.
Forearm Strain Follows Tough Outing Against Reds
It comes one day after Banks gave up four runs, including three home runs in a third of an inning against the Reds. The 34-year-old has a 7.14 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and a 32 strikeouts over 29 innings in 28 appearances.
Chase Shugart Recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley
To fill his spot on the 26-man roster, right-handed pitcher Chase Shugart was recalled from triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Banks, 34, has appeared in 28 games (1 start) across two stints for the Phillies this year after a solid 2025 season.
The 34-year old has pitched in 119 career games for the Phillies while posting a 4.18 ERA (56 ER, 120.2 IP) with 116 strikeouts to 35 walks.
The 29-year-old Shugart returns for his second stint with the Phillies this season.
Shugart's Season Stats and Recent Performance
In his first stint, he went 2-0 with a 4.97 ERA (16 ER, 29.0 IP), 34 strikeouts and 11 walks in 26 relief appearances. His 34 strikeouts this year are a career high and 18 of his 26 outings have been scoreless.
