Claude Giroux couldn't help but smile last week answering questions about the Flyers' captaincy. He knew it. You knew it. Every fan who attended practice knew it.

Giroux, the 25-year-old center who recently landed at No. 3 in TSN's top 50 players in the NHL, is the Flyers' captain. He just wasn't wearing the 'C' on his uniform.

That is, until the team finally sewed it onto his jersey Tuesday night.

"Claude is the undisputed leader of this team," general manager Paul Holmgren said in a press release. "He always exhibits a tremendous work ethic in games and practices. He is a great professional both on and off the ice. Claude has learned a lot over the past few years playing with Mike Richards, Danny Briere, Kimmo Timonen and Chris Pronger, just to name a few. Having played with these athletes has been a huge benefit for Claude."
