Former Phillies RHP Sam Coonrod Claimed by Mets
Former Philadelphia Phillies right-handed reliever Sam Coonrod will be calling New York home for the upcoming 2023 season.
Coonrod, 30, was claimed off waivers by the Mets, the team announced on Thursday.
The right-hander spent the last two seasons with the Phillies, but was designated for assignment last week to make room for Josh Harrison.
Coonrod appeared in relief for Philadelphia a total of 54 times during his two seasons. Last year he had a 7.82 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 12 appearances.
Overall, in four big league seasons, he has a 5.27 ERA, 1.37 WHIP in 97.1 innings pitched.
He missed most of last season, appearing in just 12 games with a shoulder injury.
