Did the Phillies and Eagles success dim the excitement level for Philadelphia Sports Fans when they now turn into watch the Sixers and Flyers?  Are fans skeptical about the Sixers' chances to win a championship this season because of the current makeup of this team?  Most Flyers' fans realize that this team doesn’t have the horses to compete with the NHL elite teams. No matter what the reason, there doesn’t seem to be the same level of excitement toward either one of our winter teams and I'm sure that the success of the Phillies and Eagles has an impact on the Philadelphia Sports Fans perception of the Sixers and Flyers.

As we know that all could change at playoff time but with the Phillies in Spring Training and many people counting the weeks to the start of the NFL Offseason, how much attention will be turned to our Sixers and Flyers the next couple months? The Phillies have a lot of attention is being paid to their offseason acquisitions and the expectations are high for the Phillies in 2023.  Meanwhile, the College Basketball season is coming down the stretch as we get closer to Conference Tournament time and then March Madness will take over our weekends for a few weeks.

One story that never gets old is the glorious win by the USA Men's Hockey team that won the Gold Medal at the 1980 Olympics!  Thursday marked the 43 anniversary of the USA hockey team's unthinkable win over the Powerhouse Russian Hockey Team at Lake Placid, New York.  I will never forget that game as so many Americans watched a bunch of college kids galvanizing a country with the biggest win and one of the most iconic calls in sports history when Al Michaels said “ Do you believe in miracles? Yes!!!!!!”  I still get chills today when I see the highlights.  On Saturday in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim we will hear from the Captain of the 1980 USA Hockey team Mike Eruzione.

On Saturday’s show, former three-time All-Big Ten Linebacker Brad Quast joins me in the studio.  We will recap the week of Sixers and Flyers action.  The Sports Book Consigliere Dave Sharapan checks in from Las Vegas and we will find out how the snowfall in Las Vegas has affected "The Book".  Dave will look at the early favorites in MLB and College Basketball.  In Hour Two, we have the honor and privilege to talk with an American Icon: The Captain of the USA 1980 Gold Medal Hockey team Mike Eruzione.  He will tell us about one of the most uplifting and memorable wins in sports history at 11:30am and I can’t wait !!!

On Sunday’s The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, my twin brother Bobby Schweim joins me in the studio.  Bobby will shake things up with his unique perspective on the state of Philly Sports.  The Phillies in Spring Training, Sixers busy month of March, and Flyers ahead of the NHL Tade Deadline, all will be discussed!  And you don’t want to miss it the fireworks when Bobby and I argue with Josh Hennig serving as the referee of sports debate!
