I thought I’d heard it all, until I stumbled across these New Jersey laws. Seriously, some of them had me saying, “Wait… what?”

Sure, the Garden State has plenty of sensible laws that make perfect sense. But these? These will leave you scratching your head and wondering who came up with them.

Let’s start with the logical ones.

New Jersey is known for having some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, and that’s a good thing. You need a permit to buy a handgun here, and the process is taken very seriously.

We also have tough driving laws, especially when it comes to DUIs. If you’re caught driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the penalties are no joke. Honestly, that’s another win for New Jersey.

But now… let’s get to the truly bizarre stuff.

Some of these laws are so strange, you’ll wonder if anyone actually enforces them, or if they were written as a joke that somehow made it into the books.

So, be honest, have you ever broken any of these five ridiculous New Jersey laws?

#1 – Don’t Frown at a Police Officer

Apparently, it’s illegal to frown at a New Jersey police officer. Yes, your facial expression could technically get you in trouble. Better practice your poker face!

#2 – Birds, Beware!

This one might be my favorite: it’s illegal for birds to poop on New Jersey statues. Now, I have so many questions. How exactly do we enforce this? Do the birds get fined? Put on “bird probation”?

#3 – Pickle Problems in Trenton

Here’s one just for Trenton: you can’t throw pickles into the street — not on Sunday, not ever. But you can eat them on Sundays, so at least there’s that. Apparently, in other towns like Toms River, pickle tossing might be perfectly fine.

#4 – No Booze for Your Pets

It’s illegal to offer alcohol or tobacco to animals in New Jersey. Honestly, this one makes sense — but it still sounds like something out of a comedy sketch. Imagine explaining that one to the police.

#5 – No Honking During “Whoopie Time”

Yes, this one’s real. If your car horn goes off while you’re having some private fun in your vehicle, you could technically be breaking the law. That’s one way to ruin the mood.

The Garden State’s Quirky Charm

New Jersey may be known for its beaches, boardwalks, and diners, but these bizarre laws definitely add some extra flavor to life here.
