Going into Game 6, the Philadelphia Flyers were looking for one goal to potentially set the tone. Instead, the one goal they got was all they needed, and created a lasting memory in Flyers history.

Cam York's goal at 17:32 of overtime was the only tally in Game 6, as the Flyers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins, 1-0, on Wednesday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

How It Happened

Both teams had power plays in the first period, but neither team scored in the opening 20 minutes. Shots were 12-11 Pittsburgh after the first.

The Flyers killed off another penalty in the second, as neither team was able to get on the board again. The Flyers had a 21-19 lead in shots after two periods.

There was no scoring in the third period either, as both teams piled up the shots but both goalies stood tall.

In overtime, Cam York scored the only goal on a seeing-eye shot through traffic to secure the win that sent the Flyers to the second round of the playoffs.

Key Performers

Dan Vladar — What more can you say about the Flyers' netminder in this one? The team MVP all season long turned in his best performance in Game 6, stopping all 42 shots for his second shutout win of the series.

⭐⭐ Cam York — The hero in overtime, York joined the group of defensemen that were largely responsible for the offense in this season. It was York's first goal since Jan. 21, and what a time for it.

⭐⭐⭐ Arturs Silovs — The Penguins' netminder was outstanding once again, and finished the series allowing five goals over the final three games of the series. It was an admirable job in relief.

The Takeaway

What a moment. A game filled with tension and nerves. You could sense the crowd was waiting for the dreadful moment that sent the series back to Pittsburgh. The Flyers didn't generate near as much as the Penguins did in the third period and overtime, but got the goal they needed and get to continue this valuable learning experience for another series.
