Atlantic City Rescue Mission Declares ‘Code Red’ Need for Water

Atlantic City Rescue Mission is in dire need of bottled water donations.

The Rescue Mission posted on Facebook Wednesday that they are experiencing a shortage of bottled water and they have issued a "Code Red" for donations of water.

Atlantic City Rescue Mission's Street Outreach program helps the homeless with needed provisions such as bottles of water during excessively hot weather like we have been having during this week's heat wave.

We (Atlantic City Rescue Mission)are in a code red and we are very low on bottled water. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's not unusual for the Atlantic City Rescue Mission to hand out hundreds of bottles of water each week, especially in the summer. On average, people should drink eight to 10 glasses of water a day just to stay hydrated and healthy, according to the Center for Disease Control.

Bottled water is essential for the overall health and hydration of the Rescue Mission's poor and homeless clients, who can be given this portable source of the human necessity. The bottle of water you donate could be the lifeline for someone during this hot weather.

The Code Red alert is similar the the Code Blue alert given to protect homeless people during extremely cold weather.

You can bring donated items to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission anytime, but the best time to drop off items is between 8 am and 4 pm. Use the main entrance of the Mission at 2009 Bacharach Blvd, Atlantic City
