Atlantic City, NJ Mayor, Superintendent & Principal Back In Court
Three indicted Atlantic City public officials are expected to be back in New Jersey Superior Court today, including:
- Marty Small, Atlantic City Mayor.
- La’Quetta Small, Atlantic City Superintendent of Public Schools.
- Constance Days-Chapman, Principal of Atlantic City High School.
Why Are They Back In Court Today?
Marty and La’Quetta Small and Days-Chapman will appear before New Jersey Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury for certain status conferences and to review motions.
One such motion is that Marty and La’Quetta Small want to have separate trials. Considering the fact that they both stand accused of abusing their own minor child … it is hard to imagine how you could legally sever the two of them from one another.
Days-Chapman May Be In The Most Danger
The charges against both Small’s are serious and disturbing in nature. However, Days-Chapman is facing very narrow, specific and serious criminal charges about allegedly not reporting child abuse allegations to the proper state authorities.
Marty Small Criminal Charges
Small has twice defeated the state of New Jersey in criminal trials involving alleged voter fraud allegations in the past.
It’s very different this time. This is alleged child abuse and witness tampering.
Marty Small criminal indictment includes:
- second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
- third-degree Terroristic Threats.
- third-degree Aggravated Assault.
- A separate Atlantic County Grand Jury indictment cited Marty Small for witness tampering.
La’Quetta Small Is Criminally Charged With:
- second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said about Marty & La’Quetta Small:
It is alleged that during the months of December 2023 and January 2024, the defendants physically and emotionally abused their 15/16-year-old-daughter on multiple occasions. During one incident, on January 13, 2024, Marty Small, Sr. is alleged to have hit his daughter multiple times in the head with a broom causing her to lose consciousness, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Constance Days-Chapman Is Criminally Charged With:

- second-degree Official
