
Quick cops: Potential school threat in Berlin, NJ, resolved in just 8 minutes
Thanks to very quick work by police officers Tuesday morning, one school in South Jersey went from having concerns about a potential threat back to normal operations in only eight minutes.
Yes, eight.
The scene unfolded at the Berlin Community School in Berlin, Camden County, where at 7:37 this morning, a school resource officer was alerted that a student was potentially on the way to that school to cause violence, specifically a shooting. As a result, the school was placed on lockdown.
Officials with the Berlin Police Department said by 7:39, officers at the school identified the student. One minute later, they were able to confirm that the student did not have any weapons.
By 7:43, staff and officers confirmed that there were no weapons in that student's locker. As a result, the lockdown was modified to a shelter-in-place as cops continued their investigation.

Just two minutes later at 7:45, the Berlin Community School was placed back into normal operations with an increase in police presence.
Sharing the chain of events on Facebook, Berlin police said,
We want to thank the Staff at Berlin Community School for their swift action with notification of our police officers. Berlin Police were able to work with school officials to ensure the safest protocol was carried out during arrival time at our schools.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
