PHILADELPHIA (973espn.com) - When asked if Jason Peters was going to play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, Doug Pederson was as succinct as it gets.

"Yes," the Eagles coach said before practice on Wednesday.

Peters, however, participated on a limited basis, testing out his troublesome quad during individual work before going off to a side field with one of the team's strength coaches.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai, who replaced Peters for the majority of the Week 2 loss in Tampa Bay, was working with left guard Stefen Wisniewski during combination-blocking drills at the start of practice.

Peters, of course, missed the second half of the 2017 season and the run-up to a Super Bowl LII championship after tearing his ACL in October against Washington.

At 36, health is always a concern and Peters tapped out early in the heat and humidity of Tampa, briefly trying to return before finally sitting down for good. Vaitai ended up playing 71 of 79 offensive snaps against in the game with Peters logging only eight.

Four Eagles missed practice completely on Wednesday, including running backs Jay Ajayi (back) and Darren Sproles (hamstring), part of the reason Josh Adams was elevated from the practice squad on Tuesday.

Linebackers D.J. Alexander (knee) and Nate Gerry (groin) also missed the session while Alshon Jeffery joined Peters in the limited category.

EAGLES LOSE WALKER, BRING BACK ASANTAY BROWN

The Arizona Cardinals officially signed linebacker Joe Walker off of the Eagles practice squad and Philadelphia brought back Asantay Brown to fill the spot.

Walker, a 2016 seventh-round pick, was waived by the Eagles earlier this month after the team was awarded D.J. Alexander off waivers from Seattle before being re-signed to their practice squad.

He spent his rookie season on injured reserve after tearing an ACL in the preseason and played in 12 games last season before landing on IR again with a head/neck injury.

Brown has been with the Eagles in training camp and originally made the 10-man PS before being bumped for Walker.
