When it comes to the Jersey Shore in the summer, many people think of going to the beaches, walking and eating on the boardwalk, checking out the casinos and the nightlife, or walking through the small towns and their unique shops.

However, many people come to the Jersey Shore to play a round of golf on one of the area's many golf courses.

The Best Golf Courses at the Jersey Shore

Well, for starters, why not at the Jersey Shore, New Jersey, is home to the No. 1-ranked golf course in the nation, Pine Valley, which is located in Camden County.

While the No. 1 course is in Camden County, let's take a look down the shore and see which courses made this year's list of the Top 25 in New Jersey by Golf Digest.

Atlantic City Country Club – Northfield (#22)

First up, at No. 22 on the list, we head to Northfield, home of the Atlantic City Country Club.

The par-70, 6,577-yard course dates to 1897 but has been updated several times, including in 1999 by architect Tom Doak. He did his best to restore many original features, including firm, undulating greens and tall, native grasses that frame bunkers and fairways.

The course is private and located at 1 Leo Fraser Drive in Northfield.

Hidden Creek Golf Club – Egg Harbor Township (#18)

Next up, coming in at No. 18 on the list is Hidden Creek in Egg Harbor Township.

Hidden Creek offers wide fairways that emphasize finding the best angle in to give yourself the best chance to score. The course offers a great mix of doglegs in both directions, and there is quite good variety in the par 4s, including the short par-4 8th that is one of the highlights of the round.

The course is for members only and is located at 75 Asbury Road in Egg Harbor Township.

Union League National – Cape May Court House (#13)

A newcomer at the Jersey Shore, the new Union League National Golf Club, comes in at No. 13 on the list.

The design is a head-spinning presentation of three different nines that show off electrified putting surfaces stuffed with all manner of tiers, baubles and side slopes, big sandy dunes, scrubby barrens, cavernous bunkers, a section on the north end that mimics holes forged from a quarry and a kaleidoscope of native New Jersey vegetation.

This private 27-hole championship course is located at 1765 Route 9 in Cape May Court House.

Galloway National Golf Club – Galloway (#9)

Cracking the Top 10, Galloway National, comes in at No. 9, which is the highest ranked Jersey Shore course on Golf Digest's list.

Pines and roughs of pine needles frame most holes and the eastern flank of the course runs directly along a tidal marsh that leads to the Atlantic. Galloway National now has enough exposed sand, by the way, that golfers today are reminded of both Pinehurst and Pine Valley.

This members-only course is located at 270 S New York Rd, Galloway.

Whether you're a weekend golfer or a serious player, the Jersey Shore offers some of the most scenic and competitive courses in the state. So next time you head down the shore, pack your clubs—you might just discover your new favorite course.
