Jim Thome Traded

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Orioles have officially acquired Jim Thome from the Phillies.

Jim Thome is heading to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for for two single-A players catcher Gabriel Lino and Right handed pitcher Kyle Simon.

Thome really had no role for the Phillies other then being used as a pinch-hitter.  However, after his hot hitting during interleague play it became apparent that Thome could help an American League team.

While it was nice to see Thome back in Philly this season, he really served no purpose on a National League roster but it is nice to see the Phillies accommodate him and possibly get better themselves in the process.
