For six years (2007-2012), Boardwalk Hall was home to the A-10 men's basketball tournament.  Now the newly names, Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, will host a new men's and women's basketball tourney starting in 2020-22 when the MAAC Championships. are played in the historic building.

“It’s a great thrill for me personally to have the MAAC Men’s & Women’s Basketball Championships hosted by Atlantic City in the world-famous Boardwalk Hall,” notes MAAC Commissioner Richard Ensor in a press release.  “As a lifelong resident of the Jersey shore I know what a great destination site Atlantic City will be with numerous entertainment, hotel, gaming and dining options to compliment an exciting week of men’s and women’s college hoops.”

The 2020-22 Basketball Championships will be co-hosted by MAAC member institutions Monmouth University and Rider University both located in New Jersey.

Current Conference members include: Canisius College, Fairfield University, Iona College, Manhattan College, Marist College, Monmouth University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University, and Siena College.

 

Boardwalk Hall will also host The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Holiday Hoop-La College Basketball Quadruple-Header on Dec. 15 featuring among other teams, Temple taking on Davidson.
