
Long-Time Ocean City Football Coach Kevin Smith Steps Down
The Ocean City High School football program will have a new leader in 2025.
According to the teams' social media account, Smith announced that he will not return for a 15th season as head coach, overall he has spent 30 seasons with the Red Raiders.
Smith was the 23rd different football coach at the school and is second all-time in career wins with 72 (Gary Degenhardt has 101) and his 12 wins in 2021 are a single-season school record.

Smith has been around the Red Raider football program for a long time, prior to becoming head coach, he was the offensive coordinator for Coach Mark Imapagliazzo and was a part of Gary Degenhardt staff in various capacities.
Overall he went 72-72 and 5-7 in the NJSIAA playoffs in 15 seasons.
During his final season, Smith's Red Raiders finished 6-5 but will return some talent to the roster.
Triston Schmidt was the team's leading rusher in 2024 with 632 yards, and Clay Compton will also be back in the backfield after rushing for 352 yards Jackson Becker saw time at quarterback as a freshman in 2024 and rushed for 238 and three scores. TJ Santarpio returns as a tight end
According to Tom Williams the voice of Red Raiders sports and Prime Events, Smith indicated he will pursue opportunities in the sports media field, so you could be hearing Smith doing some football broadcasts in 2025.
