The Mainland Regional High School football team in Linwood, the defending NJSIAA Group IV state champions, is getting a new video scoreboard at the Mustang Corral.

The team is taking donations and has space for 14 local donors and sponsors, who will have their logo and name featured on the new scoreboard.

A couple of sponsors that donated to help the school get the new scoreboard were the Mainland Class of 1972, Charlie’s Bar & Restaurant of Somers Point and the D'Amato Law firm, each donated $9,000.

The school says there are two spots remaining on the scoreboard for a sponsor.

The new video board will replace their current smaller scoreboard in the end zone at the south-end stadium. You can expect to see the new scoreboard also used for events like graduation.

The team will have their home opener on Sept 9 against the Hammonton Blue Devils at 6 p.m. and has four home games overall this season in Linwood. In addition to Hammonton, the Mustangs will host Cherokee, Ocean City, and Winslow Twp.

Mainland will be on the road this year at Millville, St. Augustine Prep, EHT, and Delsea.

They also open the season at Ocean City's Carey Stadium in the Battle by the Beach showcase event against Atlantic City.

The team had a special 14-0 season in 2023, capped off with an amazing 56-0 win over Ramapo art Rutgers in the Group IV championship game.  They defeated Millville 35-13 in the South Jersey final.
