The offseason in South Jersey may be "quiet" in terms of fewer people occupying homes within the Shore Towns, but that doesn't mean there is "nothing" happening in and around the Coastal Communities.

One of those towns staying busy during the fall and winter months is Ocean City. Aside from the polarizing debate over the future of Wonderland Pier, the popular South Jersey Shore Town has seen plenty of construction projects impacting the community.

The year-round residential population of 11,219 has dealt with recent road work on the Route 52 Causeway, which connects 9th Street to Somers Point, along with a new construction project between 16th and 17th streets. Also, don't forget about the multi-million dollar project to upgrade the Ocean City Boardwalk.

Latest Construction Project Impacts More Than Just OC Residents

According to a press release from Ocean City's Department of Capital Projects and Engineering, the Coastal Community will have a long-overdue project starting this month and is expected to be completed by May 2026.

Thanks to funding awarded from Cape May County, the reconstruction project for Roosevelt Boulevard and 34th Street is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, December 17th. The first stage of road work involves:

*Between the 34th Street Bridge and Bay Avenue on Roosevelt Boulevard
*Removal of the concrete median, and paving for lane shifts during road construction
*During Road Work, the left turn lane from Roosevelt Boulevard to Bay Avenue will be blocked off. Motorists will be detoured to West Avenue for left turns and northbound travel on the island from 34th street.
*The project will be resurfacing and raising Roosevelt Boulevard, and each direction will be worked in different phases. They will flip sides for the work in February, and switch traffic patterns.
