Ever since the train station was built at 10th Street and Haven Avenue in 1898, Downtown Ocean City has been a hub for many businesses over the decades. The addition of the first edition of the 9th Street Bridge in 1933 brought a new wave of visitors to Ocean City via automobile.

Many of the businesses on 9th Street from the bridge to the boardwalk have changed over the years. For decades, there were three to four gas stations on the westbound side of the 9th Street Causeway, but today there are none.

The Latest Business Changing Address In Ocean City

Over the last 30 years, there have been different eateries located at the corner of 9th Street and Central Avenue in Ocean City. From Kibitz Down The Shore Delicatessen to Mr. Wasabi Japanese Restaurant to Ocean City Cafe, the property located behind OC City Hall has been serving food for decades.

But after two years, the latest tenant is moving to a new location. Back in October 2025, Maria's Cafe and Grille announced they would be moving out of 846 Central Avenue after the property was sold.

Maria's Cafe and Grille is preparing for Summer 2026 at a new location. The corner of 4th Street and Ocean Avenue is where the popular restaurant will reopen in an underserved section of northern Ocean City.

According to their Facebook Page, they are hoping to have the Grand Opening for the new location the first weekend of April, but no official announcement has been made yet. The building is where 701 Mosaic Bistro/Restaurant used to operate for 13 years before closing in 2022.

While there are no official reports or information, online speculation is that the property being dormant for 3-4 years created obstacles for Maria's Cafe and Grille re-opening sooner in 2026.
