The 10-day injured list stint is over, which means that first baseman Rhys Hoskins would be eligible to return.  However, optimism is fading for the Phillies first baseman as the optimism that the Phillies can make the playoffs equally fades.  The report on the health of Hoskins on the day he might have been able to return is not good.

Hoskins could require surgery.

The Phillies placed Hoskins on the 10-day injured list on Monday the 14th of September, retroactive to September 13, with an injury to the UCL.  This is the ligament that often leads to "Tommy John" surgery.  It is not Hoskins' throwing arm, so there is a possibility that if he were to get that surgery he could be ready for the 2021 season.

But the Phillies were hoping that Hoskins might have progressed to the point that he could help them some the last four games of the season.  With four games to go, that does not appear likely.
