The Philadelphia Phillies have made a few roster moves ahead of Game 2 in New York against the Mets to try to improve their bullpen.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski announced the following moves:

Phillies Announce Roster Changes Ahead of Mets Series

  • Right-handed pitcher Daniel Robert was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley
  • Right-handed pitcher Lou Trivino had his contract selected from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and will wear No. 57
  • Right-handed pitcher Jordan Romano was placed on the 15-day injured list with right middle finger inflammation following last night’s game
  • Right-handed pitcher Joe Ross was released following last night’s game

Ross was signed in the offseason and was a disappointment with a 5.12 ERA (29 ER, 51.0 IP) and 39 strikeouts to 18 walks in 37 games.

Romano, a two-time All-Star with the Toronto Blue Jays, has struggled all season long, going 2-4 with an 8.23 ERA (39 ER, 42.2 IP) with 47 strikeouts and 17 walks.

Lou Trivino Joins the Phillies’ Bullpen

In their place, the Phillies will turn to Trivino, who has thrown 7.0 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts across six appearances with Lehigh Valley, limiting opponents to a .208 batting average. Trivino has spent parts of six major league seasons with the Oakland Athletics (2018-22), New York Yankees (2022), Giants (2025), and Dodgers (2025). He is 24-26 over 322 career appearances (3 starts) with a 3.92 ERA (141 ER, 323.1 IP) and 328 strikeouts.

Daniel Robert Returns to the Majors

Finally, Robert is back with the team and in 12 relief appearances this season has a 5.79 ERA (6 ER, 9.1 IP) with 12 strikeouts to eight walks. He was acquired by the Phillies in exchange for minor league pitcher Enrique Segura on April 30.
